The State government has decided to take up mega campaign to avoid problems being faced by lakhs of people due to unexpected scrapping of high denomination notes.
​Vijayawada: The district administration is gearing up to launch mega financial literacy campaign in Krishna district this month up to 30 to create awareness among the people on cashless transactions, use of e-PoS machines and mobile banking, which is the need of the hour, to overcome the crisis created by demonetisation.
The State government has decided to take up mega campaign to avoid problems being faced by lakhs of people due to unexpected scrapping of high denomination notes.
As part of the month long campaign, many committees will be formed with officials. Staff from District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Urban Areas (MEPMA), DWCRA members, Janmabhoomi Committee members, students, bankers, staff of civil supply departments take active part in the campaign.
The main objective of the government is to promote cashless transactions in the district. Due to inadequate change, the small denomination notes, lakhs of people are facing many hardships in Krishna district.
District Collector Babu A in a press release here on Saturday said a district-level committee will be formed headed by district in-charge Minister for the Digital Financial Campaign.
District Collector will be executive chairman, officials of DRDA, MEPMA, Panchayat Raj, Civil Supplies, Municipal Administration, principals of the colleges will the members of the committee.
Besides, committees will be appointed at the revenue division levels in the districts headed by sub-collector/ divisional revenue officials etc. Mandal and village-level committees will also be formed in the district to promote digital financial literacy in the district.
Training will be imparted on the cashless transactions for purchase of essential commodities.
Training will be imparted on linking Aadhaar number to ration cards, installation of e-PoS machines in the shops, distribution of Rupay cards, opening of Jan Dhan accounts in the district. Mobile information kiosks, information kiosks installation will be taken up in the district.The new committees will visit villages, municipalities to create awareness on cashless transactions and mobile transactions.
