Vijayawada: Film director Ram Gopal Varma, who is in the thick of news for making a controversial crime thriller ‘Vangaveeti’ lived up to the sobriquet he earned as “maverick” in a tete-a-tete with the leaders from Devineni and Vangaveeti clans who led turf wars in the city.
Varma made a dramatic appearance at a corporate hospital owned by Vangaveeti Radha, son of late Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga, for a private meeting with him and his mother and Ranga’s widow Ratnakumari.
Even as a battery of TV cameras stay focused outside the meeting venue, the director briskly walked in. He later left the venue after a while giving little scope for the media to take his bites and visuals.
What was transpired at the meeting remained officially unknown as both Vangaveeti family members and RGV refused to divulge.
Just met Radha and his Mother ..Meeting did not go half well....Problems..I will not compromise..Have to see what happens

The petition raising objections over certain scenes and a song in the movie in the court was disposed on Friday with certain conditions for the filmmaker to fulfil.
The meeting was said to have been facilitated by film producer and YSRC MLA Kodali Nani from Gudivada.
Varma made a similar `courtesy’ visit to Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru at the latter’s residence. Nehru told reporters after the meeting that he too wanted RGV to modify a song sung on Kamma-Kapu caste lines.
“After all, he is a film director and he has got a freedom of expression. It is understood that me and my brother Murali are portrayed as villains of the piece. Yet I respect his right,” Nehru said.
However, Radha has a different take on the theme of the movie, which prompted him to move the court.
Incidentally, an audio release function of the movie was held at KL University at Vadlamudi in Guntur district on Saturday evening.
The RGV’s exit from film making with his last film “Vangaveeti” as stated by him is unlikely to be smooth given the bullying postures from the Vangaveeti family.
Undeterred by such postures, RGV told the media that he has got every right to make films on public personalities.
RGV keeps making waves in the city life ever since his tweet on making a film “Vangaveeti” which revolves around the evolution of rowdysim in Bezwada.
The movie begins with the killing of CPI leader Chalasani Venkataratnam by Vangaveeti Radhakrishna in the late 1970s.
Varma claims that the film story is based on events he witnessed and experienced while growing in Vijayawada.
The movie teaser was released on September 30 while the trailer released on October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanti.
