Vijayawada: The 24th State-level Children’s Science Congress began on a grand note at CBR Vidyaniketan at Kethanakonda village of Ibrahimpatnam mandal in Krishna district on Saturday.

AP State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST) organised the event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Krishna Rao Appasani, APCOST member secretary, who presided over the inaugural meeting, said that as many as 117 projects prepared by child scientists had been selected for the State-level Science Congress. Out of these projects, 17 would be picked up for exhibition at National-level Science Congress to be held at Baramati in Maharashtra from December 27 to 31.

Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy was the chief guest at the inaugural function. He lit the lamp and garlanded the portrait of former President A P J Abdul Kalam to formally inaugurate the Science Congress. He said the Congress was intended to attract attention of children in the age group of 10 to 17 years.CBR Educational Institutions founder CBR Prasad and Joint Secretary SV Satyanarayana also spoke.
