K Venkata Maha Lakshmi, said: "As soon a baby girl was born, the parents will immediately buy some gold as it is common practice in our country. At the time of marriage, mother and in-laws will give gold ornaments to her.

After death of mother, daughters will share her gold. It is not correct to ask women to show evidence to their gold ornaments. Women wear gold ornaments as a status symbol. This kind of scheme will hurt sentiments of women. There is no need to impose curbs on gold."

T Srilakshmi from Gardens Centre, Guntur city, opposed gold policy. It is not correct to impose restrictions on gold. Middle class and poor will pledge their gold for children’s education, marriage or in case of emergency. If we have money, we will spend it for family expenses.
