Anantapur: Ina bid to minimize the damage caused by demonetisation of high value currency notes by the Central government and also assuage the woes of the people, the State government would be making all its transactions cashless, on a war footing.

It believes the move would help to make the lives of people hassle-free in the long run as it would save precious time and energy. The district administration had already commenced the exercise soon after the announcement of demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8.The principal secretary of School Education and special officer for cashless transactions Adithyanath Das addressing a review meeting here on Sunday said that he had come to give moral support to the initiatives of the district collector Kona Sashidhar.

Speaking at the meeting he said that the government wanted to introduce cashless transactions in every sphere of economic activity by the end of December 2016. He lauded the efforts of the Collector in this direction and said that awareness was being created among people and particularly the traders dealing with agriculture commodities like seeds, fertilisers and fertilizers etc, on cashless transactions.

He said that door-to-door surveys were being conducted in rural areas to ensure that every member of a family had a bank account. District Collector Kona Sashidhar who presided over the meeting stated that 6.14 lakh people were trained in the use of swiping machines and cashless online transactions. He said that district, revenue division level and mandal and panchayat level committees have been formed to bring the cashless transaction mission to its logical end by the end of December.
