Acting swiftly, Rajakumari personally visited CRDA office here and summoned about women 75 employees. Later, she interacted with all of them and also in groups, to know the facts.

Later, the Women’s Commission chief spoke to media on the issue in the presence of the CRDA Commissioner, Cherukuri Sreedhar, who said he ordered an inquiry into the matter by a committee headed by Additional Commissioner V Rama Manohara Rao.

Rajakumari said that it was unfortunate that the prestigious CRDA had become centre of allegations of harassment of women employees in the capital.

She said women employees had not made any serious allegations against the behavior of the official. But five women employees were convinced that the official’s way of talking with women was objectionable and he need to change his behavior.

Rajakumari said she would also have a meeting with the official who was facing the allegations to elicit the facts.CRDA Commissioner Sreedhar also said that he would follow the directives of the Women’s Commission on the issue which could not have happened in his office that have arrangements akin to multi-national company.

He informed that some senior women employees had already formed a committee, which would submit a report on the issue.

Reacting to the allegations, Working Women’s Association State convener Dhana Lakshmi demanded that the government appoint panels to check sexual harassment at work place.

“If the women have been facing such situations in major government offices, one can easily imagine their situation in unorganised sectors,” she wondered.
