Eluru: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Yarra Saye Srikanth has warned the pig-breeders not to leave the pigs in the city. The Commissioner said that people were suffering from illness due to the pigs that were wandering around the streets in the city. These pigs were spreading epidemics, said the Commissioner and added that in line with instructions from the AP High Court, the pig breeders should not leave their pigs in habitats and open places in the city.
He said that the Corporation had allotted a site near the Compost yard in Ponangi for pig breeding and the owners should pay the required fee to get licenses to breed the pigs in that place. Eluru Public Health officer V Surya Rao said that the pig breeders should shift their pigs to the site at Compost yard in Ponangi within three days failing which stringent action would be initiated against them.
