At a programme at the Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited of Andhra Pradesh, Chairman and Managing Director M M Nayak garlanded the bronze statue of Ambedkar on the premises of corporate office and paid tributes.
Describing Ambedkar as an economist, politician, jurist and a freedom fighter, Nayak said that Bharat Ratna B R Ambedkar is the spirit of the country who devoted his life for the welfare of downtrodden.
Chairman of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum of EPDCL D Dharma Rao, APSEB SC and ST Employees’ Welfare Association (EPDCL Unit) president Y Vishnu, general secretary Ch Saibabu, AP Electricity Bhahujana Employees’ Welfare Association president M Ravindra, EPDCL Directors-T V S Chandrasekhar and B Seshu Kumar, Executive Director B Ramesh Prasad, CGMs P V V Satyanarayana, K S N Murty, P Nageswara Rao, O Simhadri, V Vijayalalitha, A V Suryanarayana, G Srinivasa Reddy and employees of corporate office attended the programme.
At another programme at Dr B R Ambedkar Law College, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao asked the youth to go through the valuable writings of B R Ambedkar.
The Indian Constitution denotes the ability and talent of Ambedkar by giving equal rights to all sections of people. Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao said that Ambedkar had strived to contain social imbalances in the society.
Andhra University Ambedkar Study Centre director Prof Y Satyanarayana, Vice- Chancellor of National Law University Prof V Kesava Rao, Andhra University Law College principal Prof D Suryaprakasa Rao, Prof Apada Rao, Prof Vijayamohan, Prof Y E Jaya kumar and others were present.
Later, winners of basket ball competition were given prizes. At the Visakhapatnam Port Trust, chief engineer A K Mehera, secretary in-charge T Venu Gopal, chief mechanical engineer in-charge P V V P Harihara Rao, senior deputy traffic manager Dr K Satyanarayana Rao and staff paid rich tributes to B R Ambedkar after garlanding his statue at the Convent Junction .
