Chittoor: The leaders belonging to various political parties and residents having ancestral roots with Tamil Nadu State here have paid floral tributes to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday. They recalled their association with the departed leader.
More than 30,000 Tamil people are residing in the city. The AIADMK and DMK parties have cadre here. Seven out of 50 divisions in municipal council are headed by Tamil corporators. The ardent fans of AIADMK have erected flexis of Jayalalithaa. It may be recalled here that O Paneerselvam, who was caretaker Chief Minister in the absence of Jayalalithaa, visited the Kanipakam temple two days back and offered prayers to Lord Varasiddi Vinayaka Swamy for early recovery of Jayalalithaa.
On the instructions of the District Superintendent of Police (SP) G Srinivas, the police officials beefed up security in sensitive places across the district and the divisions dominated by Tamil people in the city. No untoward incidents were reported in the district with deployment of additional forces. District Collector Siddarth Jain directed Revenue Divisional Officers of Madanapalle, Chittoor and Tirupati to keep a vigil on villages bordering with Tamil Nadu State.
In his condolence message, Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy has described Jayalalithaa as a dynamic and powerful leader. He stated that she used to maintain close relations with AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Chittoor MP Dr N Sivaprasad said that he met Jayalalithaa twice when she was shooting for Telugu films.
AP State AIADMK general secretary S A Baker expressed his deep condolences over the demise of Jayalalithaa. He said that departed leader was instrumental in developing the State. Chittoor MLA D A Satyaprabha, ZP Chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash, YSRCP district president Srinivasulu, in-charge Mayor P Subramanyam are other political leaders have conveyed their condolences.
