‘Jagan to participate in protest in Ongole tomorrow

Ongole: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will participate in a protest, which is scheduled for December 9, at the Collectorate to demand the State government to release abundant funds for the Arogyasri scheme, said Prakasam district YSRCP president Balineni Srinivasa Reddy here on Wednesday.

Srinivasa Reddy said, “The State government is turning a blind eye on Arogyasri, the most popular welfare scheme launched by the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

“The TDP government changed the name of the scheme, but forgot to release funds for it.

There is a need of Rs 1,100 crore for the implementation of the scheme per year, but the government is releasing only Rs 200 crore”, he reminded.

“With the meagre funds, the patients are unable to undergo surgeries and treatment. To let the government know the ground level reality, YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy called for the protests at all the Collectorates on December 9,” he said.

He will participate in the protest at Prakasam Bhavan on Friday to demand the government abundant funds for the Arogya Sri.

“We appealed to the people whose family members were beneficiaries of the Arogyasri to participate in the protest,” he said.
