Rekhapalli (East Godavari): YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on poor sanitation in the in the Agency area.

He mentioned that girls’ schools, hostels and colleges have no latrines and the number of ISLs is meagre. He addressed public meetings at Koonavaram and Rekhapalli as part of his two-day visit to Agency area on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagan charged that Naidu has no right to continue as brand ambassador for Swachh Bharat as he failed to provide basic amenities in the Agency area.

He rubbished Naidu’s claims of State being open defecation-free. He remarked that the Polavaram evacuees were facing many troubles without basic amenities and they were not given land to land, house to house at many place in sub-merged areas.

“Though the tribals have given lands long back, they could not get compensation as per new R & R package,” he lamented. He pointed out that teachers in Chinturu are not getting salaries from last three years.

He expressed anguish on the health conditions in Agency area, particularly in Rajavommangi and other mandals. He said that 15 children have died with anaemia and malnutrition and faulted the Chief Minister for not visiting these areas.

He observed that there is acute shortage of doctors in merged mandals and many innocent tribals are losing their lives due to lack of proper treatment. He said that Polavaram evacuees should get Rs.19 lakh compensation
