Vijayawada: Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said on Friday that nearly 600 women representatives of Parliament and State Assemblies in India, 300 eminent women of various disciplines from around the world and around 10,000 girl students from across India would attend National Women’s Parliament-2017 (NWP-2017) to be held for the first time in India at the Pavitra Sangamam on the banks of River Krishna in Ibrahimpatnam mandal near Vijayawada from February 10 to 12.

The Speaker said deliberations in the three-day mega conclave would focus on education, empowerment, safety of women, and many other women related issues.

He held lengthy discussions with the Ministers, people’s representatives, officials and delegates from other parts of India at a hotel here on Friday and chalked out a 60-day action plan on hosting the event.

Siva Prasada Rao is the chairman of the NWP-2017. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Ela Ben Bhat, founder, Self-Employed Women’s Organisation of India are the two patrons.

Rahul V Karad, founder of MIT School, Pune, Maharashtra, is the convener of the National Women Parliament.

Later, talking to newsmen, Siva Prasada Rao said thousands of girls from AP and other States of India would attend the conclave.

He said the State government was conducting the event in association with the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT).

He said President Pranab Mukherjee, Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Aung Sang Suu Kyi of Myanmar, Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and many other women leaders and achievers in various disciplines would attend the NWP-2017.

Referring to Friday’s discussions, the Assembly Speaker said lengthy discussions were held on providing food, transportation facilities and hospitality to the visiting dignitaries and students.

He said two types of awards, Lifetime Special Awards and Best Achievers awards, would be presented on the occasion.
Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Minister for Information and Public Relations Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas, Chairman of the Legislative Council Chakrapani, Deputy Speaker of State Assembly Mandali Buddha Prasad, ZP chairperson G Anuradha and others participated in the discussions on preparations.
