Initiate cyclone relief measures: CM to officials

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials take necessary precautionary measures on war footing to rescue people from the impending cyclone.

Participating in a teleconference from New Delhi on Friday, he said that the cyclone would hit the coast between Kavali and Ongole in the next couple of days.

“The Collectors and the government machinery must be ready to face any kind of situation. Precautionary measures will mitigate the cyclone impact.

The government machinery should implement plans before cyclone hitting the coast,” he said. He also asked the officials should keep stock of electricity poles, gas cutters and other required machinery to cut the damaged trees and restore power supply, post cyclone.

The officials were directed to ready ration material for providing food to victims, besides they were told to make plans so as to mitigate the currency crisis, from dampening the relief operations.

Special instructions were passed to officials of Nellore, Prakasam and Guntur districts.

Naidu also instructed the officials to preserve the rain water. “We have completed 1.7 lakh farm ponds in 13 districts. AP should be model for country in cyclone relief operation. Police, Revenue and Fire Departments should work with better coordination,” he directed.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary SP Tucker explained the cyclone rehabilitation plans. “The government has already setup a toll free number and control room for this purpose,” he informed.

Reacting to the plans the Chief Minister asked the officials to take help from ISRO for implementing better cyclone relief works.
