Penugonda: Penugonda police arrested inter-state burglars at Rapaka village in Penugonda police circle limits on Saturday and seized Rs 22 lakh worth gold ornaments (400 grams), a car, two motorcycles and four TVs from them.
According to Narsapur DSP G Poornachandra Rao, acting on a tip-off, Penugonda CI Ch Ramarao, Penumantra Sub-Inspector GJ Prasad and police personnel started checking vehicles at Rapaka Village Bridge in the morning.
The accused Jakkamsetti Nagaraju (27) of Penumantra, Guttikonda Pavan Kumar (30) of Nuzvid and Avula Kiran Kumar (27) of LB Nagar, Hyderabad who were travelling in a car were apprehended and the stolen loot seized from them.
The DSP said that the accused had burgled seven houses in Iragavaram, Penumantra and Tanuku police station jurisdictions in West Godavari district.
They had also burgled 10 houses in Rajamahendravaram, Sarpavaram, Pithapuram, Razole and Tondangi in East Godavari and six houses in Gajuwaka, Pendurthi, and Duvvada in Visakhapatnam district and one house in Gandhinagar area in Bellary district of Karnataka.
The DSP said the property stolen in Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and Rajamahendravaram was yet to be recovered from the accused.
Stating that gang member Pasupuleti Kiran Kumar was at large; he added that non-bailable warrants were pending against the accused.
Penugonda CI Ch Ramarao, Penumantra SI GJ Prasad and police personnel participated in the media conference.
