government agencies to participate in the auction of AgriGold properties to be held on December 27.Honorary president of the association Muppala Nageswara Rao addressing a media conference at the CPI office here on Sunday opined that the participation of government departments and agencies in the open auction of properties would be beneficial to the victims of AgriGold.

He said lakhs of customers and agents were eagerly waiting for justice. He shot off a letter to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday.

He said that the government seized 17,000 acres land, Hailand resorts in Guntur district and main office building in Vijayawada and other properties belonging to AgriGold.

Nageswara Rao also demanded that the government should take measures for the payment of Rs1,000 crore to the depositors from the money collected through the auction.

He said the deposits of customers can be reimbursed in a phased manner and victims of small deposits should be given priority.
He suggested that the Energy department should buy bio-mass plant, Co-operative dairies should purchase milk centres and Agriculture department should purchase the agri-based units.

He also asked the State government to involve the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation for purchasing of 350 acres of land in Keesara, Krishna district, besides suggesting that the Tourism department should purchase the Hailand resorts in Mangalagiri and Yarada resorts in Vizag.

He said number of suicides committed by victims of AgriGold reached 99 with the death of M Rafiq (30() in Uravakonda mandal of Anantapur district. He hoped the suicides would stop and not reach the figure of 100 with commencement of auctions.
