Guntur: BJP state president K Haribabu on Monday made it clear that the Central government did not impose any restrictions on gold and denied the rumors in speculation that there is limit of possessing gold ornaments.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said that restrictions on possessing gold which were in force two months ago were still continuing.

He said that currency notes shortage will be resolved soon and said demonetisation will check circulation of fake currency in the country and it will have cascading effects and claimed that the people supported note ban.

Replying to a question, he said that Opposition parties are not in a position to debate on black money in the Parliament.

He felt that there is need to encourage cashless transactions to curb black money and opined that Central government was encouraging e-transactions.

He urged the people to use debit card, credit cards to make payments. To another question, he said the Central government has taken action against 56 bank officials who committed irregularities in currency notes distribution.

He said that the banks likely to reduce interest rates soon and said Central government has a proposal to reduce interest rates on housing loans to encourage middle-class people to construct houses.

BJP state leader Yadlapati Raghunath Babu was also present.
