Heavy rains lash Andhra Pradesh

As Cyclone Vardah hit the districts of Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor and Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains lashed on.

Over 11,460 people were evacuated to safety in Nellore and administration has been put on high alert sounded after the Cyclone crossed the Chennai coast. As a precautionary measure, the educational institutions remained closed for the day.

Meanwhile, two fishermen went missing off Kakinada coast and the Coast Guard are on the search for which ICGS Atulya had been deployed. Also, Dornier aircraft and Chetak helicopters were kept ready at Vizag.
