Guntur: TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh Naidu said that party membership had crossed over 50 lakh in 40 days and attributed the “record” achievement to the performance of his father Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and party in the State.

He expressed confidence of achieving its target of one crore membership soon.
Addressing a press meet held at TDP State party office here on Monday on the occasion of party membership crossing 50 lakh milestone, Lokesh said that they had targeted to enroll 10 per cent voters in all polling booths to strengthen the party.

He lauded the hard work of party leaders and activists for the tremendous achievement in enrolment of members.

Replying to a question, the young leader said that party was extending its support to the members and taking care of them.

He said the party was committed to the welfare of activists, which has been the entrenched tradition of the TDP.

He said the party extended Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the party activists who died in accidents.

Stating that there had been a good response for the membership drive of the party since party founder president N T Rama Rao launched the party, he said as a party national general secretary, he was taking care of membership drive.

The party will continue membership drive till it achieved its target within next five days, he added.

Earlier, he cut a cake on this occasion and distributed it to the leaders.
Narasaraopet M P Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, party leaders T D Janardhan, V V V Chowdary, A V Ramana, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad, Darapaneni Narendra and others participated in the meeting.
