Vijayawada: Joint Collector Gandham Chandrudu said on Tuesday that the district administration is saving Rs 7 crore every month by using e-PoS machines in public distribution system.

Two delegates Allan and Anit Mukherjee of Centre for Global Development, Washington DC, USA, met the Joint Collector at the latter’s chambers on Tuesday and discussed about the public distribution system in the district.

The Joint Collector explained to the delegates how the district administration is implementing public distribution system in the district.

He explained the details of Aadhaar enabled distribution of fertilizers, cashless transactions, payment of wages under the NREGS, distribution of pensions to physically challenged and elderly people.

Chandrudu said lakhs of people are being benefitted with e-PoS machines installed in 2,161 fair shops in the district.

He said white ration card holders can get ration from any ration depot in the district with the implementation of portability and added that intensive training imparted to ration dealers and the government staff.

The Joint Collector said the district administration is taking the help of service providers to ensure implementation of e-PoS in public distribution system.
