Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said Anganwadi centres across the State would turned into corporate kindergartens with good accommodation and other facilities.

Nellore: Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said Anganwadi centres across the State would turned into corporate kindergartens with good accommodation and other facilities.

“The children will be provided education in Anganwadi centres on par with corporate schools. Officials should visit corporate schools in the next 15 days to have an idea on the existing system and replicate it in all these centres,” he said while interacting with municipal chairpersons, commissioners and ICDS officials of the district here on Tuesday.

He also explained about a circular issued by the State government on improving conditions at ICDS centres. He said children from very poor families are attending the centre and there was a need to provide education to them on par with corporate institutions.

He asked the officials to merge centres within a radius of one kilometre for providing good facilities and also create school environment.

The Minister directed the officials to identify a building with a minimum of five rooms where nursery class, LKG class, UGK class, kitchen and another room for pregnant women could be allotted. He said if government buildings were available, measures could be taken to take them over.

The Minister suggested that officials visit corporate schools and observe syllabus and style of teaching for kindergarten sections to implement the same procedures for providing good and qualitative education to the children in the ICDS centres.

He explained that E. Prasanna has been appointed as consultant and asked the officials to be in touch with her for an idea on the corporate style of teaching.

He said the system should be implemented on pilot basis in Nellore and Chittoor district, similar to foundation courses introduced earlier.

Narayana lamented that skilled and intelligent teachers were available in government education sector but their services were not being utilised appropriately for making the system a resourceful one.
