Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that that the government would call for tenders for 960 megawatt hydro power generation project on Polavaram next week.

Reviewing the progress of Polavaram project works with officials at Interim Secretariat Complex here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that tenders for power project were an important stage in the process of Polavaram project completion.

The officials were asked to produce a documentary film, detailing every stage of the construction, and take other steps keeping in mind the proposal to set up a museum on the mega project to serve as subject of study for students and public in the future.

He suggested the officials take the help of television channels like Discovery and National Geographic for preparing the documentary film.

Instructing the officials to begin the diaphragm wall work from December 14, he said diaphragm works would be initiated as per schedule.

Woks should be completed as per plans without delay so that project could be completed as per deadline, he added.

Asking the officials to complete the pending works immediately, he expressed displeasure over delay in earth work where 5.87 lakh cubic metres’ work was behind the schedule.

Reviewing the works through virtual inspection, the Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the spillway works in next two months and spill channel works in next six months.

He told them to be ready with material which is required for dam concrete work, scheduled to begin on January 19.

On this occasion, the officials said that cement and other material was already being shifted to project location and required tests were also conducted.

Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, principal secretary Sashi Bhushan, chief engineer Venkateswara Rao and other officials also participated in the meeting.
