Chittoor: Responding to the call given Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for achieving cashless society by encouraging electronic transactions, the Chittoor Municipal Corporation has set up an awareness and training camp at PCR Circle here two days ago.

Chittoor MLA D A Satyaprabha had inaugurated the camp. The camp was set up to create awareness on cashless transactions among white ration card holders, students, auto-rickshaw drivers and the members of Self-Help Groups. Besides, free training would also be imparted for those interested in the camp.

It is learnt that civic officials have failed to appoint the trained personnel to sensitise people on cashless transactions. Two girls were posted in the awareness camp, who are not competent to explain the basic features of mobile and net banking.

The purpose of setting up the camp is defeated due to lack of technical staff. After inaugurating the camp, no political leader or official had visited the camp to know the response from people. On Saturday, the camp wore a deserted look as no one visited it.

Asked to comment over the poor response to the awareness camp, Chittoor Municipal Commissioner said that they have appointed two lady technicians to impart knowledge to those who are visiting the camp on cashless transactions. He said that the DRDA would manage the camp in due course. It may be mentioned here that there are no basic amenities including power in the camp.
