Addressing the media on Saturday, Rajamahendravaram MP M Muralimohan said that the association which was started in 1977 in USA is taking up different programmes for the welfare of its members in the US and for the last few years it had also been taking up programmes in India under two banners-Chaitanya Sravanti and Mana Vooriko sam. 

Rajamahendravaram: Telugu Association of North America (TANA) is going to organise a folk cultural festival under the banner of `TANA Chaitanya Sravanti’ on the 20th of this month.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Rajamahendravaram MP M Muralimohan said that the association which was started in 1977 in USA is taking up different programmes for the welfare of its members in the US and for the last few years it had also been taking up programmes in India under two banners-Chaitanya Sravanti and Mana Vooriko sam.

All the folk artistes would come to Rajamahendravaram on December 20 and exhibit their skills at Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram, said Murali Mohan.

He added that TANA would be celebrating its 40th anniversary shortly. TANA Regional Coordinator Janardhan said they would conduct cultural festivals and folk music and dance festivals across the State.

He also said that TANA had adopted Mirthipadu in Seethanagaram mandal and would construct a Primary Health Centre (PHC) and provide other facilities in the village.

Murali Mohan said he had spent Rs12.56 crore of his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds on developmental programmes in the district.

He said there was absolute transparency in the spending of funds and works and this could be ascertained from the district Collector who is responsible for disbursing the funds.

The MP said that the survey, designs and estimates were completed for the construction of five bridges on the National Highway-16 on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram including Morampudi, Lalacheruvu, Jonnada, Vemagiri and Diwancheruvu.
