Kurnool: Tense situation prevailed in Old Town for some time over the demolishing of Dargah in a road widening by the civic officials. The Muslim heads objected to the demolishing of the 60-year-old Dargah stating their children are pursing education of holy Quran.

Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi Chief Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy inspected the area and spoke on the occasion. He said the Gadda area in Old Town has many ancient mosques, dargahs and temples.

Without knowing the history of those dargahs, demolishing them is not a healthy decision, he said. He also slammed authorities for demolishing the ancient Dargah in the name of road widening.
