Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) was conferred the Digital India-2016 award in recognition in recognition

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) was conferred the Digital India-2016 award in recognition in recognition of its effective online services to the public. Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan received the award from Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ravishankar Prasad at a function held in New Delhi on Monday.

The award was in recognition of the Corporation’s effective implementation of e-Governance, general administration, engineering, revenue, Information Technology, public health, town planning, horticulture, Urban Community Development, finance, education, online tax collection, grievance cell and Citizen Charter. The National Informatics Center and Director General of e-Governance had selected GVMC under the Urban Local Bodies category.

Complimenting the Corporation for its effective e-Governance and online tax collections, the Union Minister felt that GVMV had secured the award at the right time as the city was on the way to becoming a Smart City.

Commissioner Harinarayanan attributed the award to the collective effort of all officials and employees of the Corporation and said the award had increased their responsibility further.
