Paderu (Visakhapatnam): Tribal Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu, who attended a festival on the eve of Christmas organized at the local government junior college grounds on Monday, said that the government was committed to the development of Christian community in the State.

The Minister announced that Christian Welfare Buildings will be built in all the eleven Scheduled mandals in the agency at an estimated cost of Rs 65 lakh and the local Paderu Bhavan at a cost of nearly Rs one crore. Stating that the Chief Minister was striving hard to provide employment opportunities and bank loans to educated unemployed among Christians, Ravela said the Chief Minister would launch the Chandranna Christmas Kanuka at Amaravati on Tuesday.

The Minister also said the government would provide adequate land for burial grounds in agency areas and funds from the ST Sub Plan for development and as a part of it; he assured that he would talk to the Collector for granting five acres in Madhuravada for a burial ground.

The Government, he said has plans to build Christian Welfare Building in the State Capital Amaravati at a cost of Rs 10 crore, in two acres of land. Local MLAs K Sarveswara Rao, Giddi Eswari, former Minister M Mani Kumari, former ZP Chairperson V Kantamma, MPP Mutyalamma, Rev Yesupadam, Bishop M Pal, John Master attended the programme.
