Rajamahendravaram: City MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana on Monday formally launched post praduate courses in Dr. Allu Ramalingaiah Government Homeopathic College here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Akula said that Union government under Ayush has allotted 18 PG seats to this college and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and State Health Minister Dr. Kamineni Srinivas have pushed for the same. He said that as the number of courses increased in the college, he will ensure that facilities also proportionately increased in the college.

He opined that Homeopathy, Unani and Ayurveda are age-old medical practices in the country and there is need to do more research on these courses.

Principal of the College P Surya Bhaghavan said that they have applied for PG courses in November last year, but they failed to get them. And then, they approached MLA Dr. Akula through whom they met Health Minister Kameni and Union Ministers.

However, they got the permission in their second attempt in 15 days flat and he said that they need 10 members of teaching faculty and will be appointed shortly. Both the MLA and Principal congratulated the 18 students of the first batch of PG students. After the meeting, Dr. Akula went round the college and got first hand information about the facilities and also asked the out- patients who are waiting in the queue lines for getting medicines about the amenities and medicines.
