Chittoor: On the instructions of the District Collector Siddarth Jain, District Minority Officer Prabhakara Reddy and Deputy Tahsildar G Ravi accepted the petitions from the people in the weekly grievance day meet ‘Prajavani’ held at the Collectorate here on Monday. However, several district officials have skipped the Prajavani as the District Collector, Joint Collectors Girisha and P Venkata Subba Reddy and DRO Vijayachander were in Tirupati on official work. A group of tribals from Punganur mandal met officials and urged them to provide employment and distribution of rice from fair price shops.

Ravamani, daughter of a freedom fighter submitted a petition to official seeking sanction of white ration card and widow pension to her. The residents of Gangadhara Nellore mandal brought to the notice of officials that there is no power in their residential colonies for the last four days. Ramaiah (70), a resident of B Kothakota mandal, said that he is not receiving the old age pension since three years despite visiting the Collectorate on several occasions. The residents of Valliappa Nagar, a colony located on the outskirts of Chittoor, staged a dharna with empty pots in front of the Collectorate seeking supply of drinking water. Later, they submitted a memorandum to officials at Prajavani.

Speaking to The Hans India, G Ravi said that they have received petitions in the weekly grievance day meet as District Collector asked them to do so. He stated that officials concerned were directed by Prabhakara Reddy to resolve petitions of the people at the earliest.
