Eluru: West Godavari Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao on Tuesday said that in view of the coming festivals of Christmas and Sankranthi, about six varieties of essential commodities will be distributed under Chandranna Kanuka from December 21 in the district. About 11.46 poor people will benefit from the scheme, he added. He visited the Eluru Agriculture market yard and inspected the Mandal level essential commodities stock point on Tuesday.
Later talking to media corps, the Joint Collectors said that the Chandrana kanuka will have red gram, yellow gram, jaggery half kilogram each, Wheat powder kilo, half litre Palm oil, 100 grams ghee. These kits will be supplied to up to 3 lakhs white card holders as Christmas gift. From January 1 to Sankranthi, the six varieties of essential commodities kits will supply to other people free of cost.
About 2,200 fair price shops will distribute these ECs and supply t the FP shops in special vehicles in the district. DSO Sivashankar Reddy, civil Supplies district Manager M Ganapati Rao, Civil Supplies Corporation Assistant Manager D Sharmila and others participated.
