Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has made a strong pitch for sea-based economy to turn to propel the state on the development track.

He said IT was his priority in the past but now he was concentrating his energies on the sea-based economy. He envisaged that the state's share would be 80 per cent in the export of sea-based products of the country.

Addressing the inaugural session of two-day Collectors’ conference here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the government would give house sites to three lakh beneficiaries across the state. “Pattas will be given in the Janmabhoomi programme to be held from January 2,” he said.

Naidu said the state has an opportunity to earn about 40 to 50 billion dollars on petro-chemical products in the KG basin.

“We are focussing on the area and are trying to tap its potential with the help of Singapore-based companies. We have also sought the cooperation of the Dredging Corporation of India,” he added.

The Chief Minister has asked the officials to implement changing technologies for the development of the state. “Best practices should be adopted from across the globe for better progress,” he added.

Releasing the half-yearly results, Naidu said the state has registered 12.23 per cent Gross State Domestic Production (GSDP) and it was top in the country.

He hoped that the State would achieve its 15.28 per cent growth rate target. He said the Agriculture sector has achieved 24 per cent growth, even though the rainfall was below 27 per cent.

He felt that growth rate should be more in services sector. “The government also made plans to initiate housing schemes. Urbanisation would generate income and growth rate,” he added.

Praising a few departments for their performance, he rapped others and stressed on the need for improvement.

Deputy Chief Ministers KE Krishna Murthy, N Chinarajappa, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Chief Secretary SP Tucker and officials were present.
