Kadapa: The Zilla Parishad general body meeting held here on Wednesday witnessed noisy scenes with elected representatives of ruling and opposition trading charges against each other.
The elected representatives were involved in exchange of heated arguments despite Joint Collector Shwetha Teotia urging them to maintain the dignity.
The meeting began as per schedule but ZP Chairman Gudur Ravi (YSRCP) staged a silent protest by standing at his seat as the officials have failed to provide him a vehicle and keeping his outstanding allowances pending.
After 15 minutes, the Joint Collector informed the ZP Chairman that the government has agreed to pay him Rs 1 lakh towards vehicle rent and Rs 25,000 for allowances.
Pandemonium prevailed for 40 minutes in the meeting after Proddatur YSRCP MLA Rachamallu Prasad Reddy alleged that the Central and State governments have failed to implement the scheme of constructing individual household latrines.
He stated that money spent on construction of individual latrines was not reimbursed by the Centre and State government.
He said cash was reimbursed to 321 individual toilets out of 542 in Proddatur constituency.
The elected representatives of ruling party objected to MLA showing photos of women attending natural call behind an incomplete individual latrine.
At one point of time, Proddatur MLA and Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Linga Reddy exchanged war of words.
Linga Reddy asked the MLA not to politicise the issue of individual latrines.
The efforts of ZPTCs and MPTCs to bring the local issues to the notice of higher officials have failed as 2 hours allocated for question hour wasted on meaningless arguments.
It was resolved to call for an emergency meeting after a week. MLCs Satish Reddy, Changal Rayudu and other were present.
