Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna slammed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging defections of opposition party MLAs in the name of ‘development politics’.

Addressing a public meeting here on Saturday on the occasion of CPI’s 91st anniversary, Ramakrishna ridiculed the claim of Chandrababu Naidu that the Opposition MLAs switching their loyalties to Telugu Desam Party for all-round development of the State.

“Chief Minister says that defection of the MLAs is itself development of the State” Ramakrishna said.

Referring to the joining of Pamaru MLA Uppuleti Kalpana into TDP, Ramakrishna said that Telugu Desam Party was luring MLAs by offering crores of rupees and other monetary benefits.

He said that the only achievement of the Telugu Desam government during the two-and-half-years period was to build a temporary secretariat building.

He predicted that the government would fail to complete building of capital city before next elections.

He alleged that the Chief Minister was wasting time by propagating government schemes, like building of Pattiseema lift irrigatioin project, war on mosquitoes and construction of Amaravati, but not focusing to fulfill the election promises.

He said that the Chief Minister has taken a U-turn on demonetisation of high value notes by saying that he has never seen such a big crisis.

“The Chief Minister initially said that the Union government has taken the decision because of his letter on demonetisation to the Prime Minister,” he recalled.

Ramakrishna also demanded the Union government clarify people that how they can get relief from the hardships of demonetisation.

He alleged that the Prime Minister has taken the decision only to do favour to his corporate friends.

He said that CPI was training hundreds of Jana Sevadal volunteers to provide moral support to Dalits, Minorities and other weaker sections to fight against the attacks of rightwing forces.

Jana Sevadal volunteers conducted march past on Eluru road in the city before the public
meeting.
