Visakhapatnam: Department of Science and Technology advisor Dr SK Varshney and DST International Bilateral Division Scientist Dr Chadaram Shivaji visited GITAM University here on Saturday to review the ongoing DST research projects.

GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof M S Prasada Rao, Registrar Prof M Potharaju, UGC Affairs and Research Activities Director Prof Ch Ramakrishna, Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmi Prasad, Institute of Science Principal Prof K Arun Lakshmi and others participated in the interaction.

Dr Varshney briefed about various activities of DST and its support to the science and technology activities in academic and industry both in India and abroad.

He also narrated various aspects in the preparation of research project proposals to ensure a strong proposal submitted to the funding agencies for consideration for financial assistance.

He appreciated the efforts of the management of the university to shape it to a global level institution.

He expressed satisfaction on the establishment and maintenance of Central Research Laboratory which is the back bone for the research activities on the campus.

TCS awards
Tata Consultancy Services presented its best student and best project awards to GITAM University students for the academic year 2015-16.

TCS Vice-President and Regional Head V Rajanna presented TCS award for the Best Student of 2015-16 batch to Vundavalli Harsha Sri from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, GITAM Institute of Technology, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam.

The award comprises a gold medal, a certificate and a cash price of Rs 10,000.

TCS award for the Best Student Project of 2015-16 batch was given away to ADH Kishore Naidu, PSV Ram Kishan and Syed Lal Ahmed for the project entitled ‘Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition of a Remote Industrial Plant’.
