Eluru: The round-table meeting of various people unions decided to take up a dharna on December 28 and 29 at both the Collectorate and in front of various banks, in protest against the Central government's restrictions on cash withdrawals.

A round-table meeting, in this regard, was held by the people unions, at Anne Bhavan here on Sunday. Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham district president Jakkamsetti Satyanarayana presided over the meeting. Speaking at the meeting, Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham President B Balaram said that following the ill-planned decision of the BJP- led Central government, the agriculture sector in the State is facing a severe crisis. He said that due to the demonetisation, no one is coming forward to purchase the agriculture produce from the farmer.

The leaders said that due to scrapping of old notes, the farmers are unable to draw their cash from the banks to pay to the labourers. They demanded the government to take quick steps to sanction crop loans to farmers and tenant farmers. The meeting also demanded the government to sanction SC/ ST/BC minority corporation loans in cash form at a time to the beneficiaries.

They also demanded the abolishment of e-PoS system in ration shops. BC Janasabha Joint Secretary Ukkusuri Gopalakrishna, Andhra Pradesh Koulu Rythu Sangham (APKRS) district general secretary K Srinivas, SC/ ST Bahujan Rights and protection society chairman Methara Ajay babu, Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham district president Gorla Ramakrishna, BJU Assistant Secretary Potelu Pentaya, KVPS joint Secretary K Sudheer and others addressed the meeting.
