Hyderabad: N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh who has been maintaining a very low profile after the bifurcation of the state, is contemplating to re-join the Congress.

According to sources, Kiran, who has been in political wilderness after the 2014 general election, is said to be drawing out strategies for the 2019 election. It is said that recently some Congress leaders from Andhra Pradesh had broached this issue with the AICC leadership and leaders like Digvijay Singh are understood to have spoken to Kiran Reddy.

The former chief minister, however, wants to carefully weigh the pros and cons of staging a home coming before he takes a decision. Sources, in this connection, say that he is not interested in leading the Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress. He perhaps wants to be at the centre stage in New Delhi and become general secretary of the party. When contacted by The Hans India, Kiran neither denied nor confirmed the speculations. He only said, “Let rumours be rumours, at the moment I am enjoying my golf.”

He also refused to comment on whether he would be contesting in the 2019 election or not. “At the moment, I am not in politics. I will share with you when I take a decision,” he stated. Earlier, there were speculations that the 56-year-old Kiran would join the BJP.The former CM, meanwhile, has been busy attending various functions and meeting people in his constituency.
