Kakinada: Eluru Range DIG, P. V. S., Ramakrishna placed four traffic personnel of Kakinada under suspension and issued orders for initiating criminal proceedings for their alleged involvement in tampering of seized cash in 2,000 notes from a car on Dec th. The suspnded police are N. Sankar Prasad Traffic sergeant and R. Prasad, Ch, Parusurama Reddy, V. Hanuma Gangadhar, who are traffic constables.
According to East Godavari SP, M Ravi Prakash, on 4th this month (December), the suspended four intercepted a car near Kovvada railway gate in Kakinada rural area and seized Rs 84.50 lakh containing Rs 2,000 notes. Noticing variations in cash seizure and based on the information given by the eye witnesses, the DIG ordered for criminal proceedings, the SP quoted.
The department enquiry revealed that the four suspended police personnel were in collusion with the four accused in the car and showed the seizure amount as Rs 18 lakh after taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The police let the four accused in the car flee from the scene with the remaining Rs 61.50 lakh in cash.
