Kakinada: The release of Rs 2,000 crore on Monday by the Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati at New Delhi vindicates the centre’s seriousness on completing the Polavaram project, said the district BJP President Y.Malakondayya.

Speaking to the media men here at R& B guest house on Monday, the BJP leader asked the BJP’s state alliance partner, the TDP, to see the reality and shed its inhibitions on the centre’s support to the state. He said that the Modi Government at the centre will stick to its promise and bear the revised cost of Rs 36,000 core for completion of Polavaram project.

In the same vein, the BJP leader asked the TD leadership not to take credit for the centre’s programmes such as MGNREGA, as the scheme for rural uplift is being totally funded by the centre.

Malakondayya alleged that though the funding for rural employment comes from the centre, several TDP MLAs in the district are taking credit for the same terming it as the state government’s scheme. Annually, the centre allocates more than Rs 1,000 core towards the implementation of MGNREGA scheme in the district, he revealed. He suggested the TDP MLAs to follow the coalition norms in the implementation of this rural employment scheme.
