Collector asks for speedy highway works

Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Babu A conducted a meeting with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officers and consultant representatives at his camp office in the city on Monday and asked the latter to speed up the process for construction of the highway to check the traffic problem. The collector discussed with the officials on the extension works of Vijayawada – Machilipatnam highway.

City traffic is drastically increasing day by day and causing lot of problems to the citizens, he said. National Women Parliament would be conducted at capital city in February so traffic problems to be solved to some extent, he said.

Vijayawada – Machilipatnam national highway construction works should be of international standards and greenery should be maintained, he suggested. Land acquisitions, shifting of electrical poll works have been completed so far and handed over the land to NHAI, he said. Complete the minor bridges across the irrigation canals, he added. NHAI project manager Suresh Kumar, Rights consultant representatives attended the meeting.
