Worker smashed to death for `50

Guntur: A 60-year-old worker was brutally killed for Rs 50 in Medara Bazaar in Chilakaluripet on Monday.
The police identified the deceased as Chiranjeevi, a native of Maddirala village. He came to Chilakaluripet in search of work and owes Rs 200 to one Bhaskar Rao. Bhaskar Rao in an inebriated condition demanded Chiranjeevi to pay Rs.50, this led to a verbal duel between the two and in a fit of rage, Rao smashed Chiranjeevi’s head with an asbestos sheet.
The impact rendered Chiranjeevi unconscious. He was shifted to the local government hospital for treatment, where doctors declared as brought dead. Bhaskara Rao was taken into custody for questioning.
