Speaking after inaugurating a three-day Indian Economic Association (IEA) conference in SV University here on Tuesday, Naidu did not mince words in saying that pampering will result in people accustom to comfort hindering their growth and performance, hinting that the universities should fend themselves.

Citing how the universities abroad able to mobilise resources through research and development as well as other services like consultancy, etc, Naidu wanted the universities here to follow suit and improve their performance to make themselves self-sufficient and compete globally.

In this connection, he said Indian major the Tata Group company is providing Rs 250 crore annually to Harvard University for its services which through its excellent performance enjoying creditability world over.
