‘Make permanent arrangements for water supply’

Ongole: Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy ordered the officials at a review meeting at the Collectorate here on Tuesday to make permanent arrangements to provide drinking water to all villages in his constituency.
The MP said that the public in 54 villages around PC Palli in Kanigiri Assembly constituency are not getting drinking water for the past two weeks. He asked the RWS officials to provide a solution to the problem immediately.
He also ordered the officials to provide drinking water through tankers to 787 habitations where the fluoride level is more than 1.5ppm.
He asked the officials to fill the Ramateertham reservoir with water from Nagarjunasagar to provide drinking water continuously for the next three months.
District Collector Sujatha Sharma assured that the officials will provide drinking water through tankers wherever the public are facing difficulty.
She said that the panchayats should pass a resolution to mandal committees to provide works under employment guarantee scheme.
Agriculture department assistant director Murali Krishna said that the government has announced 46 mandals in the district as drought-hit and sent a report to include the remaining 10 mandals into the list.
RWS SE Kanthanath said that the government has released Rs 3.60 crore for clearing the pending bills of water tankers.
He said that about 429 panhcyats in the district should be made open defecation free panchayats this year, but made only 89 till now. He said that by March-end they complete the task.
