Mori (East Godavari): This tiny village with 1180-odd households tucked away on the banks of the Vasista River under Sakhinetipalli mandal in East Godavari district has disproved the notion that the use of internet, smart phones and digital transactions are only the exclusive domain of the urban India going ‘smart’ in the letter and the spirit.

Mori has become a model for hundreds of villages in the state to follow in digital transactions. Thus, it is all poised to be an apple in the eyes of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who is scheduled to officially declare it as ‘digital village’ in terms of cashless transactions on December 29.

The remote village beckons the ‘Who’s who’ of the IT world. Berkeley University of California has deployed a team for a study on the village’s giant leap towards realisation of smart village concept.

The IT majors as Google, IBM, CISCO and Ericson got attracted to Mori’s ‘success story”.
