Chittoor: In line with Collector Siddarth Jain’s instructions to remove flexi boards in the city, members of city beautification committee comprising of Chittoor Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Balasubramanyam, in-charge mayor P Subramanyam and MLA DA Satya Prabha gave their consent to remove all the unauthorised flexi boards, here on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Hans India, Commissioner Balasubramanyam declined the that political big wigs were keeping the flexi boards at Gandhi statue, government offices and Schools without obtaining permission and remitting prescribed charges.
“There would be no discrimination in removing the flexi boards. No political interference will be entertained. Our mission is to keep the city free from flexi menace,” he ascertained.
Balasubramanyam said that flexi boards at educational institutions are diverting attention of the school-going students. “Flex boards pertaining to film stars are diverting the attention of drivers,” he said and asserted that the drive to remove flexi boards would beautify the city, as saplings would be planted after removing the flexes.
He said that instructions were given to the town planning officer to prepare a list of illegal hoarders of boards and flexi and the due to be remitted by them to the municipal corporation. “Beautification is our agenda. We will develop parks in a big way, besides developing walking track near Kattamanchi tank. Violation of the rules, while erecting flex boards will result in civil and criminal cases,” he warned.
The Commissioner reiterated that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was keen to develop Chittoor on par with Tirupati and there was no fund crunch for the development. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the municipal administration.
