Greater Visakha Committee of CPM alleged that the State government is complicating the long pending Simhachalam temple land

CPM party State secretary Madhu to address public meeting on Jan 1

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakha Committee of CPM alleged that the State government is complicating the long pending Simhachalam temple land issue pertaining to Panchagramalu (five villages) and demanded the government withdraw the affidavit filed in the High Court in this regard.

City Secretary B Ganga Rao told reporters here on Wednesday that principal secretary (revenue) has recently filed an affidavit in the High Court unilaterally without discussing with associations or the public concerned following a case filed by Peethadhipathis on the Panchagramalu land issue.

He pointed out that it was mentioned in the affidavit that those land owners built houses must regularise the same by paying amount to be fixed by the government, vacant sites will not be regularised and will be taken back using force if necessary and those who failed to regularise their houses before the due date will forcibly be acquired using force.

He flayed that the government has submitted the affidavit without taking either the Three-Man Committee report of 2014 or the order given by Visakha RDO in 2010 into consideration. The committee has already mentioned that there was no proof to consider that all the lands of Panchagramalu belong to Simhachalam Devasthanam. Ganga Rao made it clear that as long as the government considers the entire land belongs to Simhachalam temple basing on the pattas issued by the MROs of Pendurti and Chinagadili in 1996, the issue will never be addressed.

The city secretary further alleged that an extent of 120 acres in TD No.1180 was in the hands of ruling party leaders and the government has failed to take possession of the land so far.

Giving priority for the business of ruling party leaders, the government has allotted 15 acres of Simhachalam temple land to Nova Priyadarshini Educational Society for which Anakapalli MP M Srinivasa Rao was instrumental, he alleged. City Committee member R K S V Kumar was also present and said that party State secretary P Madhu will participate in the public meeting to be held at Gopalapatnam on January 1.
