Visakhapatnam: MPs Dr K Haribabu (Visakhapatnam) and M Srinivas (Anakapalli) expressed their unhappiness over cashless transactions that are taking place in their constituencies.

At a meeting held here on Wednesday with the bankers, Haribabu said after the demonetisation of the higher denomination notes, the role of banks in cashless transaction and distribution of cash to the public was not felt to be satisfactory.

Hr told the bankers that they should thank the public for having patience with the banks while drawing their money or depositing the cash. He said 60 per cent cashless transactions were taking place in the petrol bunks and the percentage might increase in the ensuing weeks. The MP suggested to the SBI authorities to increase the speed of their server which remained very slow affecting the online transactions. He said though the government has asked for Aadhaar seeding for Jandhan accounts, it was not being followed.

So far 9,46,963 Jandhan accounts were opened in the district, but only 6, 74, 165 RuPay cards were issued. And Aadhaar seeding was done in case of 6, 26, 254 accounts. Around 29 per cent need to be given RuPay cards and 34 per cent Aadhaar seeding. The process should be completed soon, the MP told the bankers.

Haribabu reviewed the sanction of loans under Green Field Enterprises for setting up new industries with the SBI officials. The SBI officials said 102 applications received under this category and units were sanctioned to 92 applicants. They said 67 applicants were given a loan of Rs 25.95 crore. However, the SBI officials failed to provide the list of ST and SC women applicants.

District Collector Praveen Kumar asked the officials to ground the loans sanctioned by SC Corporation, BC Corporation, Kapu Corporation and Minorities Corporation during the Janmabhoomi programme.

He said review would be conducted on all the priority programmes of the government, Stand Up India scheme and Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts on every Monday.

He said under potential credit plan, Nabard is likely to sanction Rs 12,679 crore worth loans during the next financial year to the agriculture and related activities in order to increase the output.
