Tirupati: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana asked the officials to speed up the works related to Indian Science Congress (ISC) so as to complete them by December 30.

The Minister along with officials including SV University Vice-Chancellor A Damodhar, Municipal Commissioner V Vinay Chand, Joint Collector (2) and other officials inspected the ongoing works at SV University campus on Wednesday.

Though the Minister expressed satisfaction over the quality of a majority of works, he pointed out that the works related to the road at Andhra Bank zonal office, Auditorium area and the beautification works were not up to the mark.

The Minister who was sore at the poor quality of works at some places in the university campus, curtly told the officials there will be third party assessment on the quality of works, hinting that they will not be spared if the works were not up to the mark.

In his hour-long inspection of the works in the university campus, the Minister along with officials visited the senate halls, hostels, internal roads and beautification works going on in full swing in the university area.

He held a meeting with the officials later in which he sought the officials to pull up their socks to complete the works by December 30 i.e. three days before the inauguration of the ISC meeting which is slated to begin on January 3.

The Minister wanted the officials not to compromise with the quality and asked them to thoroughly inspect the works.

Narayana told the media that works to the tune of Rs 130 crore were taken up for the ISC meeting in which 90 per cent of them have been completed.

He also inspected the construction of temporary houses for the health workers working in the corporation near Scavenger’s Colony. MLA M Suguna and others were also present.
