Tirupati: Congress party activists led by former MP Chintha Mohan observed 132th formation day of the party here on Wednesday. Marking the occasion, Mohan along with his followers cut the cake and distributed it to the activists.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohan gave a call to those left the party to return in the interest of the nation, as it was the only party committed to safeguard the integrity and unity of the country as well as for the welfare of the poor and weaker sections.

The senior Congress leader recalled the outstanding contribution of the grand old party for the freedom of the country, also for poverty alleviation and making India self sufficient in food and other sectors. He also recalled the Congress party role in development of Tirupati including 7 national high ways linking the city with other cities.

The party formation day was also observed in Satyavedu where party State secretary Penubala Chandrasekhar hoisted the party flag before addressing activists.

Addressing the party activists Chandrasekhar made a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for causing hardships to the people with his hasty demonetization move. He said crores of poor in the country were suffering with cash crunch and many lives were lost.

“Thousands are deprived of their jobs. Against the backdrop the activists should re-dedicate themselves to take up a fight for the sake of the people to strengthen the party to see that it bounce back to power in 2019,” he roared.
