Rajamahendravaram: YSR Congress Party district president has expressed anger over the plight of farmers in the state, particularly in Godavari district.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the YSRCP East Godavari district convener K Kannababu, Rajamahendravaram city convener along with the former MLA Routhu Surya Prakash Rao said that farmers are not in a position to invest for the second crop as their finances got stuck in banks as a result of withdrawal limit by Modi government. Mr. Kannababu said that the civil supply corporation is not purchasing paddy completely from farmers and the farmers are not in a position to obtain loans as and when they require.

He said that when 90% of farmers are financially in a weak position to invest in the second crop, the government should come to their rescue, purchase the remaining paddy and pay the remunerative price in cash. Secondly, the civil supply corporation should take quick steps for arranging loans for farmers in cash, he demanded.

He warned the State government of launching an agitation if the state government fails to make all the pensions including physically disabled in cash. He found fault with the government for withdrawing kerosene quota and replacing it with Deepam connection. He expressed doubts that the funds what the CM Chandrababu Naidu brought from the Center for the Polavaram Project two days ago are going to be diverted to Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Project.
