Haribabu says BJP keen on legal sanctity

Kakinada: The BJP is striving to get legal sanctity as it will enable the AP in getting the much-needed special package, said the BJP AP unit president and Visakhapatnam MP, Kambhampati Haribabu here on Thursday.
Addressing the media at R & B guest house here on Thursday, he said that the BJP government at the centre is wholly committed to honoring its pre-poll promises and towards this step, it ensured release of Rs 1980 crore from NABARD towards the Polavaram project.
When his attention was drawn to the Centre’s assistance coming in the form of aid for the Polavaram project and not as loan from NABARD, the MP replied that the earlier union governments too followed suit.
When questioned about a similar assurance given by the UPA government on giving legal sanctity to special status but the promise could not take its shape, the MP assured that not only the Polavaram project but all other privileges enlisted in the special package will be fulfilled, he said.
Citing reasons of administrative convenience, the works of Polavaram project have been entrusted to AP, explained Haribabu when queried over the same.
The BJP state AP-in-charge, Siddardhanadh Singh and others were also present at the press meet.
