Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna demanded the Union and the State governments waive all farm loans in view of hardships of people following demonetisation.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Ramakrishna said people did not get any relief even after completion of 50 days since the Prime Minister announced the deomonetisation of high-value notes.

He said the Union government had been carrying out propaganda misguiding people that that they would have a bright future with banning of high denomination notes and did nothing to mitigate the hardships of people.

“Farmers have been facing continuous problems for the last 50 days and they lost kharif crop due to shortage of currency,” he said. He demanded the government to cancel farm loans to give relief to small and marginal farmers.
